BLOG Navigation and Construction Updates

Behind the scenes, I have been very busy with the new blog construction...an on-going process that will be sooooo worth it in the end...especially for my readers ;)

For those of you who are viewing my blog posts in a reader service, or via email subscription, you might not be able to see these small modifications that I've made to my blogs sidebars and pages, so I wanted to write a post and give you all the updates.

The photo to the right is of my current sidebar with all of my new ABOUT PAGES.  When you click on the links the new pages will open up in a new tab:

About con-tain-it...my original blog.

How to navigate this blog:

Please take the time to review them...especially the one for navigating the blogs.  Note that...all three of these pages appear on ALL of the sidebars, for all of my blogs.  I wanted to keep them accessible for anyone reading my blog at any time.

The second area that I wanted to bring your attention to is the email subscription form which is located directly below the ABOUT PAGES.  Again, on all the sidebars for each of my blogs  {with exception for the main landing page, Love Shack Living ;}.

Due to the nature of the beast...as a reader you will need to subscribe to EACH one of my 5 blogs in order to receive the updated blog posts for each blog.  Or you can simply subscribe to only the ones that you are interested in, such as Love Shack Larder if you only care about what's cookin' or, Love Shack Studio, if you only care about what I'm currently creating...it's up to you!

For those of you viewing my posts in a reader such as Google Reader, then you'll have to simply cut and paste the html code, for each blog, into the reader's area for adding new subscriptions or RSS feeds.

Another significant change is that I have eliminated my facebook account so you will no longer find the link in the bottom navigation bar {oh yeah there has always been one for those of you who never venture on down there...lol ;} for each of my blogs.  I found that facebook was just a big "time zapper" on my part...and if anyone really wants to know what is going on in my life...then they will just have to read it here on my blogs.  I had originally opened up the account because it was suppose to help to "increase my blog traffic"...well it did not!  Also, I'm not impressed with how facebook has turned into another marketing venue for companies.  Remember...I'm NOT selling anything to anyone...just sharing my life here at the Love Shack!

Kristin Collins's hollywood home in the Historical Il Borghese neighborhood is a featured in an on-line House Tour in Apartment Therapy this month.  Kristen states that her style "is a mixture of Hollywood Regency, Dorothy Draper-esque, and Mid-Century Modern. While I love these and many other styles, I also like keeping it playful and appropriate for my lifestyle."

 

Another eMail Explosion!

Please accept my sincere apology for the excessive emails that you have been receiving AGAIN from my subscription services. 

Again due to my new blogs design/construction and the moving of all of my original blog posts from my original blog, con-tain-it into the 5 separate blogs within the Love Shack Living domain...you all have received another 9 blog post emails today.

Apparently the default date for sending emails does not work when moving blog posts?  I'm assuming it has to do with the fact that I cannot export my previous blog posts in Typepad the way the email subscription services normally handles this situation.   Thank goodness DH caught it for me and hopefully we have figured how to shut off the email services while doing this process. 

This entire process is stressful enough because I have little patience with the techy stuff.  I'm really bummed with all as well because I'm also loosing my comments on all of my previous posts when I move them from the original blog domain to the new blog domain.  Combime that with the fact that I've lost several subscribers due to these email explosions ;{

Things happen for a reason and I have to simply buck up!  I cannot thank you enough for your patience during this time.

eMail Frenzy!

Please accept my sincere apology for the excessive emails that you have been receiving from my subscription services. 

Due to my new blog design and to the updating my original blog, con-tain-it into 5 separate blogs within the Love Shack Living domain...you all have received over 15-20 emails in the past 24 hours.

This is a one time situation due to the expansion of my blog and services and will not happen again.  For many this is very excessive since I've recently learned that prior to this design change...NONE of my subscribers have been receiving regular emails.  ANY that you had been receiving were from my old subscription services that have since been terminated.  Oh boy!

I cannot thank you enough for your patience during this time.

New Blog Design and Name Change

Please excuse the mess while this blog is under construction!

For the past few months I have been working on (actually avoiding ;) the logistics of updating my blog.  Originally I had hoped to have it all done in time for my 4 year blog anniversary...but you know how that goes ;)  To date I have written over 475 posts for my two blogs, con-tain-it and B.O.B.I.'s and it has always been a struggle to keep the navigation of my blogs (and their posts) as streamlined as possible.

The reality is that I have too many categories for one blog (let alone two blogs ;) and so I have been researching for the best way to separate my current blogs out without having to have a separate reader subscription service for EACH blog.  OR from having to find a new blog platform...cause typepad is the best as far as this end-user is concerned!

So I have found a way to set up a main blog page {known as a landing page in they techy world}  which will collect all of my blog posts from my 5 total blogs and deliver them into my subscribers mailboxes.  This main blog page is title: Love Shack Living:  A little ole blog where we get together and I have acquired the domain for it: www.loveshackliving.com ;) 

The following blogs will all be automatically uploaded into this main page:

Love Shack Baby: Where living large is a state of mind (because it is my first blog: con-tain-it) All of the original posts are still located here for now.  Eventually the main posts will be for the categories of interior design, small space living, organization and life here in the Love Shack.

Love Shack Giving: Inspiring ways to give back (formerly B.O.B.I.'s Business of Bliss & Inspiration) Encompasses all of the original posts and archives will remain here where there will be no changes other than the banner.

Love Shack Larder:  Where everybody gathers cause good food matters.  Will include all of the original recipes from con-tain-it will be (exported into this blog),as well as, any other posts regarding health and well-being.

Love Shack Nonsense:  Where love rules and life happens.  Will include all posts related to the loves of my life...family, friends, travel, books and anything else that happens in my less than ordinary life.

Love Shack Studio:  A funky little place where we make it all happen.  Will include all posts related to the work I create in my studio such as sewing projects and art journals.

UPDATE:  Here is a screen print of the temporary banner with the navigation bar below to show you all how much easier it will be to jump from blog to blog depending on the subject matter ;)

NAVIGATION BAR SHOWING ALL THE BLOGS, AND THE CURRENT ARCHIVES.

This may sound like a lot for you as the reader, but in actuality it will make it easier for you because the individual blogs will load faster (yeah ;) and the categories will be able to have more details so that you can find that certain "chicken" recipe without having to scroll through every single recipe in the current categories..."Yummy in my Tummy" or "Foodie Friday"...for instance.

For the next few weeks...all of the blogs archives/categories (with the exception of Love Shack Giving) buttons located at the top and bottom navigation bars...have been linked back to their original locations (in con-tain-it) so that if you are looking for an old post you will be able to retrieve it.   As I work through the list, and I determine which posts I will transfer and which ones will just stay where they are, the blogs will be updated accordingly.  I will start with my recipe posts first and then on to the decorating/organizing posts.  It will be an on-going process and I will keep you all in the loop as I go ;)

In the meantime, I want to thank you for your patience and to wish you all  a wonderful weekend.
