Storage Unit that is...finally...after completing The {31} Purge we were able to turn in the keys to our original storage unit.
For me it was what really "symbolized" that we had finished our purge and it gave us a real sense of accomplishment. We went from a 10'x15' unit that was costing us $158.00 a month to a 10'x10' unit that is now costing us $114.00 a month. AND WITHOUT having to pay an additional month's rent on either unit because we did the actual move in less than a week ;}
Sorry about the volume ;} Tried to record it as low as possible...but it still seems loud!
All of this was done just in time for us to celebrate Thanksgiving...and I really enjoyed the holiday...because I knew that all of the hard work was behind us. The balance of the things to be donated, will be going to my sister this month and that will clear out the center of the unit and make the space actually usable.
For some, you may be thinking...that there is still a lot of STUFF left...and I'd have to agree with you ;} However...since we do not have any type of seasonal storage for things like lawn chairs, coolers, luggage and Christmas decorations...here at the Love Shack...we just do not have a choice when it comes to having off-site storage. The rest of the storage encompasses my hobbies...mainly sewing and scrapbooking...and having a climate controlled unit is required for safely storing my stash of supplies.
The hardest part of completing The {31} Purge...I have to say...ways finding was of disposing of my stuff! For me there was a real emotional attachment to just about ALL OF IT and when I couldn't find family members, friends, businesses and/or donation centers to take things...it made it very difficult for me because I HATE WASTE! It was bad enough that I wasted all that money when I bought all of the stuff...and then to even think that no one else could use or wanted it...just compounded the situation.
Purging is also a very time consuming process. Then when you add blogging into the equation...oh boy...it can get out-of-hand if you are not careful. However....blogging was also what kept me going...because it held me accountable. AND even thought there are no blogging POLICE out there holding me virtually responsible...emotionally it DID keep me focused and in-line ;}
For everyone who has commented and supported me along the way...I want to say...THANK YOU! It really means a lot to know that I have people reading my blog posts and rooting for me. Hopefully I have inspired you to take on a task that you feel is impossible and over-whelming by simply handling ONE THING AT A TIME!
Fondly, Roberta
