Day 28 of The {31} Purge and this is one project that I have put off for almost two years now since moving into the Love Shack...purging my pictures and wall frames. I've put it off for so long because it really depresses me that I have SOOOOO many family portraits and art work that I cannot hang...simply because I do not have enough wall space. Here is a photo of all the frames that I have just pulled off the metal shelves in my storage unit:
Count them...there are over seven boxes, bins and baskets to go through and to sort out which ones I'm gonna keep and which ones are going to a consignment shop. I've blogged about this before...about how I miss my black walls in my old dinning room and how they showed off all of my fancy frames...really makes me sad when I see this ;{
Snap out of it girl! That's what I have to tell myself or else all of these boxes will just go back into storage...lol NOT on this purge they won't...I've seen to it! By downsizing my storage unit from a 10'x15' to a 10'x10' and assuring that there will be NO ROOM to put them back inside...hahahaha I'm going nuts...really...this is a hysterical outcry!
So the plan is to drag all of these boxes over to the Love Shack and to finally come up with a wall gallery arrangement for the only two available walls...
Which...as it so happens to be that...both "available" walls are in the bedroom...
AND...even though each wall has very tall, vaulted ceilings...they BOTH have big focal point pieces of furniture on them. One has my triple dresser and the other has my king-size headboard and tall dresser...
One benefit of my procrastination has been that I've managed to collect a mass of inspiration photos...such as this one from Elle Decor which uses a combination of frame finishes over a headboard...
AND this one which highlights a grouping of gold finished frames over a another bed.
Then there is my favorite source...Pottery Barn...with another fantastic grouping...
I really love the way they have arranged the different frame finishes and the way the smaller pieces set out in front of the other frames with Pottery Barn's special mounting brackets. What makes this arrangement work is that all the artwork/photos are black and white and that most of the mats and frames around the photos/artwork are of similar widths...very wide ;}
My goal is that after Thanksgiving I will have completed my gallery wall and will share it all with you in a future blog post. It's a lot to take on with the holidays...but it's got to get done and I seem to always work better with a dead-line!
How about you...what motivates you to get a move-on and to complete a project?
If you are like my hubby and you are a first-born...then dead-lines probably do not motivate you at all! That would be because as a first-born...you don't like anyone pushing you to do things...it's up there with..."not liking being told what to do". That is probably why we get along so well...cause I'm not a first-born ;}
Fondly, Roberta
Holy crap you have a lot of frames...I'm over here trying to find frames...you hoarder you...LMAO
