Day 24 of The {31} Purge and oh my word...I'm just so overwhelmed with this process at this point! Some days are better than others. The good days are the ones when I have no issues with finding an appreciative party...one that is able and willing to accept my donations ;} The bad ones are when I stop and look at how much money I've wasted on collecting all of this STUFF. Then it's like adding salt to my wounds...when I can't find a way to donate and/or to even give it away! You know...so that I can feel better about my own over-indulgences and added waste!
Hence that is how I'm feeling TODAY about all of these boxes of fabrics that were tucked away in my storage unit :[ At this point it doesn't matter what my original GOOD INTENTIONS where...every time that I walked into a fabric store...and took advantage of ANOTHER great deal on the bargain table...I was adding to my obession! There just is not enough time, or interest at this point, for me to create with all of this fabric...ahhhyaaahhaaaahhhh ...talk about feeling wasted!!!
Lord knows that I'm not afraid to pull out my sewing machine and tackle any sort of sewing projects...many times without any sort of pattern...project links here ;}
But the simple fact is THAT...there are only so many windows and surfaces here to cover with fabric at the Love Shack! So all of these boxes are being donated to my sister and her group of creative ladies who work on community service projects that require fabric...like quilts for shelters and for emergency relief organizations. Thank goodness for these lovely, generous ladies and for the many bloggers out there, like the Green Bag Lady, who continue to create and give of themselves. It is such a relief to me to know that these fabrics will not have been a total waste of my time and money.
How about you...what hobby are you obsessing and collecting for?
Don't be shy now...fess up in the comments...we all have had the best of intentions...{remember the Barbie Dolls and Beanie Babies for our grandchildren ;}
Fondly, Roberta
Paper, paper, paper! I had a problem with yarn, but several years ago I promised myself I would not buy more until I knitted all of the dishrags I could possible knit with a bushel basket overflowing with Sugar n' Cream yarn. It worked! I have said the same thing about my paper crafting supplies ("gonna use what I have", but that doesn't last very long!) I used to hoard cross-stitch kits too. Lots of money tied up in those, but they have been donated over the years…I only have a couple in the drawer now. My main issue is paper :)
