Wow! It's feels so good to have my patio all completed now after a week {or more ;} of interruptions from Mother Nature...remember...It's Not Nice to Fool Mother Nature? It is very satisfying to look back at a year ago when I did my first patio makeover and thought that it was just the perfect Petite Patio then...
NOW...take a peek at it and WHAT a big difference ;)
Having the new gazebo has really transformed and made the patio look and feel bigger. Originally...we had planned on putting the gazebo over the concrete portion of the patio so that we would have a shaded area to sit under and to keep the sun off the kitchen patio door...
However...things didn't worked out as planned! The cross-braces were too low on the gazebo when it was placed on the concrete area for us to be able to open up our storage area door. Sooo...we opted to place it on the grassed area where it provides shade for my hammock as well as for the bedroom window. In the long run...it worked out so much more the better for keeping the bedroom cooler during the day as well as for providing the best shade for the best piece of furniture...lol
Then we purchased a new round table and umbrella to sit under on the concrete area since my original, rectangular table was destroyed by the sun {note to self...folding tables with press board tops do not stand up to NC summers ;} The cantilevered umbrella also didn't last (the rope to crank up the umbrella broke) and we never really liked the way the wind was always blowing it all over the place...hence why we bought the gazebo in the first place.
So I was so excited when I found this small umbrella and stand at Bed, Bath n'Beyond with it's manual pulley system and it's low price tag ($49.00 bucks ;)...BUT...the real reason was the red stripes!!!
After all...red is the Love Shack's signature color!! That's why I choose to also update the wicker chairs by painting only two of them red...for the two love birds living here (right now my sisters are gagging ;) Gag yourself if you must...but I plan on spending many a night here with DH enjoying candlelight dinners on the petite patio. Linking up with Thrifty Decor Chick's Spray Paint Party this month...since spray paint has always been my go-to friend ;)
That's Amore...don't you just love this bottle that I found at Michael's? It is just perfect for holding the bottle candle holders that I got last year at the Biltmore winery.
Intimate dinners on the patio and clear access to the cooking area are the main reasons why we extended the patio area by the fence with more paving stones for our big mac daddy of a grill...
Spent all week pruning my old flower pots and adding some new ones like these wax begonias on my bakers rack where they are protected from direct sunlight.
Found these lovely hanging strawberry plants which I love watching while I lay in my hammock.
DH calls them "natural bird feeders"...
But I don't care who eats these gorgeous strawberries...just love growing something on my own.
On the bench under the window you could sit a spell...just be sure to move my dahlias out of the way ;)
The front of the Love Shack doesn't get nearly as much sun as the back so I was able to place a pot of petunias on the stoop...
As well as a hibiscus which I will attach to the front post as it starts to grow taller.
That's the end of the tour folks! Hope you all enjoyed it...I know that I am sure going to enjoy our new petite patio for the next few months before it gets too unbearably hot here in July/August. So if you don't see me in blog land...you'll know why...I'm out back in my hammock ;)
Hope you all have a wonderful evening.
Fondly, Roberta
Can I have the strawberries? LOL!! it is indeed a perfect patio I would love to have one since our garden still has a lot of extra space the only problem is the budget.

Appreciating the persistence you put into your website and in depth information
you provide. It's great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn't the
same old rehashed information. Fantastic read! I've bookmarked your site and I'm including
your RSS feeds to my Google account.

Whoa! That’s a huge transformation. I love your new patio. The color gave life to the old one. The yard looks serene. I’m sure a lot of memorable family events will be held in this place. You did a good job on the makeover. Those who’ll be able to see it will probably look surprised as I do. Congratulations!

Well, that's really PATIO PERFECT! And oh! Gotta love the barbecue grill! An afternoon hang-out with your family would not be complete without grillin' those barbecues! Did you spend a lot of money on redecorating your patio? 'Coz it's such a major transformation! =D

I love the patio, it looks like a retreat! I'm sure I would spend a lot of time in the hammock too if I were you...reading and napping, napping and reading. Sounds like my ideal summer.

Hmmm!! Let me see...I want the Gazebo (Saw it at Lowe's ~Sad Face~)...I want the wine bottle candle holders (I'm on a mission)...How in the world do you keep all those things on that shelf when it storms (let me guess you take it all in)...The patio is adorable I "crazy" love it!!! And the striped umbrella really makes the whole area look so intimate and cozy...Hubby and I are just as mushy ;-)

Wow, what a transformation! It if gorgeous! you have worked so hard! I love the wine bottle candle-holder. You gave me an idea! When we went to France, i brought back a bottle of wine from there, but didn't want to chuck out the bottle once we had polished it off per sentimental reasons, now i know what to do with it! And have good memories every time I see it! I love the colors-the red and black. I am not a red person, but this really makes it all "pop". And as you said, perfect color for two "love birds" (no gagging here cos I am a hopeless romantic!)
