The Environmental Working Group has created a Shopper's Guide to Pesticides as a key resource for consumers looking for healthier low toxin diets. Since many shoppers can't always find or afford organic produce, they can use the Shopper's Guide to avoid those conventional fruits and vegetables found to be highest in pesticides –The Dirty Dozen – and, instead, choose items from the Clean Fifteen list. Go here to Download the Shopper's Guide PDF or to Download the iPhone App.
Use the EWG's Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides to reduce your exposure as much as possible, because eating conventionally-grown produce is far better than not eating fruits and vegetables at all. According to EWG calculations, you can lower your pesticide consumption by nearly four-fifths by avoiding The Dirty Dozen. The Shopper’s Guide will help you determine which fruits and vegetables have the most pesticide residues and so are the most important to buy organic. Listen to what Dr. Andrew Weil has to say about The Dirty Dozen...
Finding EWG's Shoppers Guide works-for-me this Wednesday and I'm really excited because it is such a handy tool which ultimately means that it will get USED! It will become a new habit that will aid me in my One Word quest this year to improve our health and increase our longevity.
Hope this works-for-you all as well.
Fondly, Roberta
I noticed the common factor among the lowest pesticides...they all have rinds or thick skin on them which decreases the pesticides that reach the actual fruit/ veggie part. It's another way to think about it as a quick reference.
