This week Kristen is having some recycled fun and being really green in her fused plastic bag video tutorial for Works-for-Me Wednesday. Which inspired me to share my newest green find from Hip Mountain Mama's website: Glass Straws for my Green Smoothies.
As you may know, my green smoothies REALLY are green because they are made from raw, organic spinach and berries which makes them SO darn thick that I usually "eat" them with a spoon. Here's a tip...use a pyrex measuring cup to drink your smoothies from...because they have handles to grab onto and you won't freeze your hands while trying to hold onto the glass ;}
They are so thick that trying to sip {suck :} through a regular plastic straw was almost impossible...hence...WHY I'd end up "eating" my smoothie with a spoon. See here...how they are so thick that EVEN these glass straws stand up all on their own!
These glass straws are so affordable that I bought a second one...just in case DH wanted to {suck} along with me. AND they have a tiny wire brush to clean your glass straws with.
Of course DH wanted to know why he didn't get the Big Daddy Smoothie Straw...OMG like the size of his straw matters! So I told him...handmade glass straws Work-for-Me and my smoothies just fine. You don't like them...then go get your own (not really...I'd never say that to DH ;)
How about you...what works-for-you...that you'd never say to your DH?
Fondly, Roberta
Just wanted to chime in - we do carry these and the carrying cases at reuseit.com + lots of other great reusables!

I've never heard of glass straws before, but they sure are pretty. And that is one think smoothie!
You put a while new meaning behind the expression "suck it up"!

They have the straws on teh reusit.com site also, and they sell bamboo cases so you can carry your straw with you..... I need the larger straws for my smoothies cuz their made with frozen fruit and yogurt and are really thick sometimes. I use two plastic straws everytime so I can get the drink to be sucked up the straws ( I buy skinny one). I can't drink cold liquids without a straw cuz of sensitivity in my teeth. :)
