LOVE is a verb! I brake for the homeless.
“Come on people now, smile on your brother. Everybody get together try to love one another right now.“ The Youngbloods, 1967
Today it was for Steve...he is a homeless vet who stands here at the entrance of the Walmart near my home. He is shy {or ashamed :} and did not want me to take a close-up photo of him.
You can see that it is a busy intersection...BUT I stop anyways and very often I have people beep their horns at me and I wave them on...this road is wide enough for someone to pass me if they are in that much of a hurry. Some days it is for Steve, other days it is for some of the other "regulars" like Betty or Jim and other days they are new faces.
SOME days I can't find any of them and it really bums me out because I worry about them...especially when the weather is extreme and I know that they are trying to stay out of the elements...I just can't imagine what that would entail? Can you?
Perhaps it looks like Tent-City here in Nashville, TN...which is not much better than cardboard when it's as cold as this winter has been.
That's why I've added a few more things to my Bags of Hope...
Things like ramein noodles, instant oatmeal, hot cocoa mix, crackers and a bowl and silverware to mix it all up and eat it with ;)
But more importantly...I always write a personal note to let them know that they are are NOT forgotten. Then I add a few dollars so that they can get something warm to eat for at least one day!
How about you...how do you love *one*another?
Share it today with (in)courage and come on...everybody get together try to love one another right now!
Fondly, Roberta
I should really do that here, there are dozens of people in this area that could use something like this. You're so thoughtful.

At times my younger brother was homeless and we would "rescue" him and get him a place and food and also money. This went on many times in many locations in his 49 years but he always went back to his life because, for him, it was what he wanted at that time. He was in and out of the VA and the demons that ruled his mind won out until the last 2 years of his life. It makes me feel good to know that someone like you may have showed him some kindness.
