So, Cortney decided to set up her own version of TAG because she is new to blogging and wanted to learn about other people’s blogs and how they got started. She asked for volunteers for her TAG game and so for today, I decided that I wanted to be IT:
- How did you create the name/ title of your blog?
For my first blog: con-tain-it, I created this name over 10 years ago when I became a professional organizer. I went into small and medium sized businesses and made recommendations for how they could improve their standard operating procedures for functions like cash management, software and IT systems and even the basics like, managing their filing systems. For individuals, I went into their homes and after talking to them and viewing their homes, I would give them written assessments on how they could improve the dysfunctional areas in their homes. That could include their mail and bills, their kitchen organization and their inability to purge their children’s belongings, etc.
For both, businesses and individuals, I could return and help them with their critical areas for an additional fee. After two years of glorified “house-cleaning”, I decided to go back to a regular work environment of 9-5 in various business offices where eventually I became a full-time Controller.
The pay and recognition were always just enough to keep me hooked, but the long hours and tedious number crunching left me creatively starved. SO, I opened up a store-front in a vendor booth-rental establishment called, Black Lion in Charlotte NC and revived my business name con-tain-it, Solutions for Storing in Style. The ABOUT photo on my blog is actually from my storefont in Black Lion.
The store was successful, in that it broke even for the first year, but when it came time to sign the lease for the second year…I just couldn’t commit to another year of buying seasonal inventory. Who was I kidding…I just couldn’t do a 50-55 hour work week as a Controller and then expect to have an ounce of energy left to create anything to sell in my storefront! I had also learned about BLOGS at this point and decided to try to run my business on-line with a BLOG and an virtual storefront with ETSY.
That was two and-a-half years ago and this year I started my second BLOG, B.O.B.I.’s, the Business of Bliss & Inspiration. My intention for this blog is to raise awareness for charitable organizations and someday to sell some items in my ETSY shop to support my charitable interests.

- Do you follow people back when they follow you?
Always! I try to read all posts that I find relative to me and I always try to leave comments and encouragement.
- Do you actually read all the blogs you follow?
YES, I put all of my blogs in my Google Reader and set them up by my own CATEGORIES of interest. Then when I open up my reader for the day, I choose which category I’m interested in for that day/time. If I need to cook dinner, then I look into the FOOD category. If I need to get creative in my art journals then I read my ART JOURNAL category. When I feel like sewing then I read my FIBER ARTS category.
- Do you write your blog on a laptop? If so, where do you sit when you blog?
Yes I write on my EeePC and usually I’m sitting right here…
- Which post did you enjoy writing the most and why? (put a link to that post here)
Wow…that is so hard…I’ve written over 244 for con-tain-it and 28 for B.O.B.I.’s . I can tell you that I DO NOT post for the sake of posting something for any given day…not my style! I only post when I have something to share or say. For instance, I belong to several blog parties/hops but I do not create a PINK post simply because it is Pink Saturday…I want to inform and entertain my readers not over-throw them with Pepto-Bismol content for the sake of filling a post.
If I had to choose then I would have to narrow it down to my two favorite categories, The Love Shack and Yummy in my Tummy, because they are all about how we live our life here at the Love Shack and what I love to cook for my family.

Impossible to choose! I follow over 500 blogs and I find inspiration every day in all different ways. Again, if I had to choose it would be my two favorite blog art journalists: Mary Ann Moss of Dispatch From LA, because she is a daring woman who is so full of life. She travels the world traveler, is an artist, a teacher, and all around fun lady.

Well…this is easy and you (Cortney) know the answer but I will answer for all the masses who do not know…lol...Cortney is my niece and she recently relocated to California where she and her new DH, Carl, are following their dreams. I read her blog not just because she is my niece, but because I so enjoy her blog posts. She writes with a young, fresh eye and her wit and sense of humor just crack me up…a lot!
