How Sweet The Sound where you...
Get Pink !!!
Photos and information courtesy of Little Dresses for Africa.
Along the way, I bought so many different fabrics and I have to admit now that I see all my finished dresses...that PINK tended to be one of my predominant fabric choices ;O
Originally, my goal was to complete a least 10 dresses by the middle of July so that I could send them on to Kristen in time for her to coordinate the entire shipment to the organization, Little Dresses for Africa, who will deliver the dresses to the grateful little girls in Africa.
However...I have bought so much fabric that I will probably be able to make another dozen!
Then last week when I was out shopping with my sister in Hobby Lobby, I found this WONDERFUL deal on this lovely lace trim that I JUST COULDN'T PASS UP...
DO YOU BELIEVE THIS...I purchased over 25 yards of beautiful lace trim for less than $7.00! At the original retail of $1.99 a yard (which really is not a bad price for this trim to begin with ;) it would have cost me over $50.00 bucks...I love it when I get such a steal...and for such a great cause to boot! I was doing the "happy dance" all day...my sister will confirm! It only takes a yard per dress to add this to the hems...so that means that I can finish 25 LITTLE DRESSES...OH YEAH!
Seeing these sweet little faces makes me want to continue buying more PINK fabrics and making more Little Dresses for Africa! Hope you all are having a wonderful PINK Saturday and be sure to hop on over to Beverly's blog post today and to welcome all the new PS ladies.
Fondly, Roberta

What a wonderful Idea!! I think following inspirations and making the world a happier place is what art should be about!
Blessings to you and those who are brightening the world of these little girls!

Thank you so much for this post! I have no grandchildren but would love to sew for little girls. I checked out all the links you provided. Your dresses are beautiful. As soon as I make my move to CT and get my craft room set up I will start sewing!

I think what you are doing is wonderful.. YOU are making a difference in someone's life and giving them something beautiful. Bravo! They are so cute! And what a great cause! I am so proud of you Roberta! I would like to contribute to this project too, but my sewing machine is on the blink. I am taking it in next week for a good service and then hopefully I too (with a bit of help as I can't sew clothes, you might have to do a "how to " on your blog for me!) sew some sweet little dresses!

I read your post a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with this idea - Little Dresses for Africa. I've convinced my sister to help me and we are going to present the idea to some women in our Church. I've been scrounging around remnant bins and checking my stash for suitable fabric. I made one from blue fabric with pink, purple and yellow flowers on it. I made the ties purple. It's really cute. I can't wait to make another.
Thanks for letting us know about this great project.

Oh Roberta Sweetie...
What a beautiful job you have done. They are absolutely beautiful. I love it that you have lots of pink. All little girls love pink, and what beauties they will be in your gorgeous fashions. I so wish that my sewing machine was working. I think I would be sewing too. I love what you are doing. What a steal on the lace trim. My gosh 25 dresses with some special trim. These little girls will not know what to think when they see the beauties you are sending. I love the photo of them in their little dresses. Don't they look so happy?
I know you heart must be singing for sure.
Thank you for sharing sweetie. I so adore seeing what you have done. They look so beautiful hanging in a row. Many little feet will be doing the happy dance.
Country hugs sweetie and so much love, Sherry

Was that 7 finished so far that I counted? Really, really adorable! Keep up the great work. Check my FB post for an adorable dress project I think you will like. It has a lot of work to it, but the picture was so cute I had to share with you!
