73rd Metamorphosis Monday
Third and final change to our master bedroom here at the Love Shack. Yeah right! Says DH…don’t know why he doesn’t believe me ;} But, as I stated in this Post…it is a girls right to change her mind…again and again! What brought on this furniture metamorphosis you ask? I just couldn’t bring myself to hang any pictures on the one big wall in this room…in my gut I knew that it wasn’t right…and I ALWAYS listen to my GUT! I learned this a long time ago and it has always served me well.
The following photo demonstrates my dilemma…big large wall with too many pieces of small furniture…what was I thinking?
SO...Now I’ve re-attached the mirror back onto my triple dresser and placed it here on the big wall where it should have always been…
Remember…before I had taken the mirror off and set it in front of the window…
So now I have placed my two original night stands which had been re-purposed as "office supply chests" (because my DH works from home and his office is ALSO in the bedroom) and they fit beautifully now placed together under the window…
Here is a close-up and it shows how balanced they look between the green drapes…
Because these night stands are lower, they let more light in and they “appear” to not block the path by the bed to the tall chest in the corner…
Pan across our king bed with it’s tall black headboard and you can see the only pictures that I have hung…because they are original oils and I didn’t want them damaged…
Then you come back around to the door for our closet and my DH’s little office tucked in the corner of the room…small it is but very functional.
You can see that I’ve hung a black curtain here that we close, mostly at night so that the lights from all the computers don’t bother us while sleeping…or if we want hide the mess when we have guests.
In the corner next to my triple dresser is a “temporary” printer stand…
See here, normally it is my wicker luggage rack…
AND actually this was the primary reason for the entire Metamorphosis…the printer(s) that is…you see my DH had his work printer and I had my photo printer set up on the nightstands here previously. Mainly because they needed to be near the computer/routers in order to work…right…well my DH got to turn in his printer…thank the lord! He was required to have a separate printer designated only to his work printer for years and it wasn’t bad when we had a big house with a separate office…but here at the Love Shack …well it was a real pain! Then last week my Epson photo printer “shit the bed” and we had to order a new one…so we got a wireless model that I will be putting on my new studio desk…yeah!
So...this made me want to lighten up some other surfaces in the room…namely my dresser top…here is the before with the multiple statues…a.k.a. jewelry racks…
So I eliminated alot of the clutter…
...by packing away a drawer full of socks…that I don’t even wear this time of year…yeah I had the two top drawers full of socks…don't ask!
AND then I used a wooden drawer divider and placed it in the top drawer to sort a lot of the jewelry that I don’t wear much (especially since I've been unemployed and do not go out unless I have to:). Then I placed my larger, beaded necklaces (the ones that do not tangle easily) in a gold tray on top of the drawer divider to maximize the depth of the drawer and to sort my necklaces even more…
...all of the little glass dishes that you see were just sitting on my dresser top before collecting dust and trinkets. So now they also sit well inside my top drawer next to the drawer divider.
All in all I'm happy that my bedroom looks like a bedroom once again and not a warehouse for furniture and office supplies. The Love Shack is small...and we have to maximize every inch of space...but that doesn't mean that it can't be both functional and beautiful!
