69th Metamorphosis Monday Hosted by BNOTP
Last week I wanted to post photos of our Petite Patio here at the Love Shack but it was raining and the photos were too dark and just didn't do justice to our little patio. So I let it go and waited until today when the weather was cooperating :D
The above photo is not of our house...hence the beige siding, the motorcycle and the fall leaves on the tree...ha! ha! I didn't take a proper "before" photo and I really should have so that you could get the full effect of how we have transformed our Petite Patio...so I scoffed this off the internet:D
Ta...Da...!!! Now here is a photo of OUR Petite Patio after the transformation. There are still a few things that I want to add but they will come when I find the "right" decorative fixtures. For instance, I am looking for some iron accent pieces to go on the brown fence by the covered grill area and a fountain to sit on the wrought iron étagère.
With-out a doubt this is my favorite place...laying in my original Pawley's Island Hammock! This was a Mother's Day gift over four years ago and it has sat in the original box since then because we didn't know where we wanted it set up at our old house. We had a huge yard...actually very over whelming now that I think about it...and we just didn't know if we wanted it set up under the trees or closer to the deck etc. Then when we moved to the apartment in Charlotte last year, DH wanted me to sell it...but I just couldn't get my head around it...and now I'm so glad that I didn't :D
We purchased a cantilevered umbrella to provide some much needed shade on our Petite Patio. This one has a 10-foot expanse and almost covers the entire patio...ha! Ultimately, we would like a permanent cover...like an awning or pergola...but we didn't want to take on the HOA for approval right now. We also have learned to "live with it" first {after all these years :} before we go out and make a major purchase or renovation.
One of the other things that I'm still working on is painting my wicker chairs...got to get my butt out of the hammock more! Here you can see the "before" chair that is sitting by the iron étagère...with the original two tone green and brown wicker. I think I'm going to paint this one high gloss black along with that little white table/plant stand sitting next to this chair.
Why black you ask? Because...the antique turquoise green that I painted the other two chairs that sit by the round dinning table...I can't find any more cans in this shade. I had bought about nine cans...years ago...from a store that was going out of business and stuck the cans in my garage until we moved...about three moves at least...lol This spray paint was a great "eco-friendly" type of paint because it didn't put out harmful fumes, etc. Well about half of the cans were either mis-labeled or they turned bad...because they come out of the can a weird gold/rust color...lol Oh well...it's a Wabi Sabi kind of thing...so when in doubt...go black...my favorite spray paint color!
Here in the above photo you can see my little container garden that also helps to weigh down the umbrella stand. I just have to have flowers and green plants (real ones) and just love that we have a yard once again to enjoy...in lieu of the apartment "balcony" that we had in Charlotte.
Now I have roses, tomatoes, herbs and petunias...oh my :D Here you can see the wicker bench that I talked about covering in this post, that provides some much needed storage and also doubles as extra seating when we have guests. Oh man...photos show everything...like the leg that needs to have the wicker re-wrapped around it...another thing to add to my "to-do" list...never ending :D
Especially when my butt is always in my hammock...just love to sit in it every night while DH brings me sangrias...ahhh! This is the life...relaxing on our Petite Patio here at the Love Shack.
Hope you all enjoyed our Petite Patio transformation and be sure to hop on over to Between Naps on the Porch and check out Susan's post on the blue hour, get in on a great giveaway and link up to over 200 Metamorphosis Monday before and after posts!
