Project Life {Week 9}: New Table in the studio

Wow...hard to believe that it is the middle of March already!  Of course the fact that we spent the first ten days on vacation in Charleston, SC really made the time fly by.  Why is it that when you go on vacation the time really seems to zoom by...so fast that you can't even remember what you did!  That's why I love taking photos and working on my Project Life album so much this year.  It has encouraged me to take a ton of photos and to print them.  I was already in the habit of taking photos for my blog.  But let's be honest...who really wants to scroll through pages of blog posts to find your favorite photos?   Don't get me wrong...I appreciate how blogging has helped me keep track of our memories with all of the journaling I've completed.   However...my family would rather read less and look more...they really like looking at all the pretty pictures with quick captions and less...blah...blah...blah!  As they tell me ;}

Before we left on vacation I had set up a new table in my living room (formerly the library ;) that is now dedicated to my scrapbooking my Project Life album this year.

This year I have been taking a bunch of painting classes and it basically requires that I have my painting supplies out on my studio desk full time.  Which meant that I was constantly picking up my supplies and rearranging my desk to make room for my Project Life album and always being nervous that I was going to get paint on my album or photos...not a good thang!  So on any given day...you'll find me scooting my office chair back and forth from my painting desk to my scrapbooking desk ;}

Project Life {Week 8}: February's Canvas Create

This week I was able to finish my assignment for Canvas Create for February which means that I have a 12"x12" page to incorporate into my {Week 8} of Project Life 2012.   Which means that I only have one regular, sectioned page protector to hold my photos for the week.  Which, worked out okay since I realized that when I went to pull my pages together that I really did not take a lot of photos this week.  That was because I was busy working on my art projects and catching up on two-weeks of Project Life!  So I'm sharing it all with you here on my blog and with all the other Project Lifers as I link up my post with Project Life Tuesday hosted by Jessica of The Mom Creative.

First up on the right-hand side is my Canvas Create project that I've placed inside of a 12"x12" page protector.  The assignment incorporated a heart for the month of February and loads of texture...you can read all about the details here in this blog post.

Project Life {Week 6} & {Week 7} in the studio

This week in the studioI kept my head down and got all caught up on my Project Life Album...woo hoo!  I may be a few days late for Project Life Tuesday...but my motto has always been..."better late than never" and "better done than perfect!

Project Life {Week 5} Afternoon Delight...Skyrockets in Flight!

The weather has been a BIG part of LIFE these past few weeks because it has been so un-seasonably wild and warm for Winter...even for North Carolina.  During {Week 5} of Project Life 2012 it was like spring...or even summer for some parts of the world...with temperatures in the high 70's mid-week.  Talk about hearing one hit wonders...Skyrockets in Flight...afternoon delight!  {now you are going to be hearing this song in your head...playing over and over again ;}  So without further irritation...today I'm sharing my completed, two-page spread with you here on my blog and then I am linking my post up with Project Life Tuesday hosted by Jessica of The Mom Creative.

 

Project Life 2012 {Week 4} Wild Weather

The weather was all over the place during {Week 4} of Project Life 2012.  Sunday we had rain all afternoon with mild temperatures so it made for a very relaxing day home with hubby.  Then on Monday the sun came out and it warmed everything up...so much so that the golfers were out all over the course getting their golf fix ;}  Then bam...we got hit with BIG storms on Friday with huge black clouds...so much so that I found myself running out in the street to catch some shots and shared it in a blog post.  The winds were blowing as well and they blew the clouds right outta here and it was clear, Carolina Blue Sky's by early afternoon...crazy I tell ya!  

Today I'm sharing my completed, two-and-a-half page spread with you here on my blog and then linking my post up with Project Life Tuesday hosted by Jessica of The Mom Creative  blog.  I am still a week behind in completing my PL weeks and every week I tell myself that I'm going to "catch-up this week"...and low and behold...life keeps happening and the time just simply gets away from me.  Oh well...it is what it is and I'm not going to get discouraged because then I'll start dreading it and giving up all together. 

Still finding that I'm taking a TON of photos and that I let my photos do most of the story telling and that I don't feel the need to tag every photo or decorate every slot with some sort of ephemera...simple is best for me!  Besides...I have all I can do to sort and edit and figure out which photos I do want to include...lol  Then I go crazy trying to take photos of the completed pages and to find ways to cut down on the glare from the page protectors...you know the drill!

Project Life 2012 {Week 3} Burning Ring of Fire...

Wow...what a week it was for my Project Life 2012 {Week 3}.  I am just now starting to feel like we are back to "normal"...hence the "Burning Ring of Fire" notation.  

Today I'm sharing my completed, two-page spread with you here on my blog and then linking my post up with Project Life Tuesday hosted by Jessica of The Mom Creative  blog.  Even though it was only a "two-page" spread...that did not make it any more simpler...to say the least.  It has been a few years since I've done any type of traditional scrapbooking...so when I was faced with a regular 12"x12" page this week...I was a little bit stumped!  I kept wavering between wanting to turn it into an "altered art" page and having it too flat and sparce for my tastes!  But then I really didn't want to throw a bunch of ephemera all over it...just for the sake of scrapbooking either.

Project Life {Week 2} Home again, home again, jiggety-jig...

On a roll now with {Week 2} completed and can hardly wait to share it with you at Project Life Tuesday hosted by Jessica of The Mom Creative blog.

Again...I'm late, I'm late...for a very important date! Well that would be because this week, most PLer's have completed up to Week 3 in their albums.  But you know my motto: better done than perfect ;}

After this week, I'm not going to worry about it anymore because ya know what...life happens...and I'm living mine and enjoying it to the fullest.  All year long PLer's are going to be behind because we get busy with work, families, holiday, vacations, sickness and just plain living life!  I do not want the false pressure of a posting deadline taking all the JOY out of this experience for me and I hope that...I'm not the only one ;}

For {Week 2} I completed three 12"x12" page spreads using a variety of 12"x12" page protectors.  Since I still do not have the "Design A" type page protectors I'm using what I have on hand so that I do not get any further behind.  Many of the PLer's are using the "Design A" type pages because they are conducive to the PL kits...of which I have bought into...so needless to say I'm really excited to get them because I'm looking forward to the smaller 2"x3" inserts for the journaling cards and for some of my photos that really do not require the larger 4"x6" formats.  Here is the first two-page spread:

Joy is Rising in the studio this week and I'm so Lovin' It that I get to share my latest project, Canvas Create, with you all.  Talk about a perfect way to end a very productive week! 

First I had to clean up my desk and put away all of my scrapbooking materials so that I could set up my painting supplies...I've learned from past spills to just get up off of my butt and put the stuff away ;}

I guess you could say that it is one of the downfalls of having a small studio and living space...but it sure does keep me on my toes.  The benefit of it is that you always know where your stuff is because you have to put everything away after using it...and in my book that is a good thang ;}

Project Life 2012: WE are Off and Running...

So darn excited to share with you my Project Life 2012 Album this week...even thought it seems that I'm always late when it comes to the party.  But I'm not going to let that stop me from linking up on Project Life Tuesday hosted by Jessica of The Mom Creative blog.

Did I mention that I'm late?  Well that would be because this week, most PLer's have completed up to Week 2 in their albums and I'm just now finishing my Album Title Page and my pages for Week 1.  But I'm sure that I'm not the only one ;}

For those of you wondering...primarily my family members...WHY on earth did I start another project this year?   I'm sure that by the middle of this year I'll be wondering the same thang!  All joking aside...I got the BUG for a PL album after I participated last summer in Ali Edwards, Week in the Life project.  The biggest obstacle for me was using a 12"x12" album...I prefer the size of the smaller albums for storage and holding...however I prefer how many more 4"x6"photos that you can fit into the 12"x12" pages.  Also, last year I had purchased a Project Life Amber Binder  along with some Multi Packs of Page Protectors...all with the intent of using them to organize my Mother's old photos.  Note to anyone reading this...old photos come in all sorts of sizes and NONE of them seem to fit into photo sleeves, in any organized fashion ;}

The final straw for hoping on board the PLer's wagon was when I wrote my holiday newsletter and soon realized that after writing three page that...WE DID A LOT OF STUFF...last year.  YES...I have a lot of those memories recorded on my blog and in various mini-albums and projects...but I do not have it recorded in one area.  I like the idea behind a PL album where you are completing a two-page spread for each week of the year.  Where you gather a few photos and thoughts that represent what is happening in your day-day, ordinary life...no matter how messy it gets ;}
