Our assignment for the month of February in Ali Edwards One Little Word on-line class with Big Picture Scrapbooking was all about "cultivating an awareness of our words in the world by looking through the lens of our cameras" {Ali says it best ;}
Since I'm already taking loads of photos for my Project Life Album, making the effort to take photos of images that represented "JOY" to me, really just added a new level of consciousness to how I took photos. This month I have a two page spread {almost three :} for my One Little Word Album.
On the left-hand side I have a divided insert that holds nine 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" photos...and here's the photo key from left to right:
1.) Photo of a red heart door doorknocker: pinned this photo onto my Valentines Inspiration board because I just loved the red heart for the month of February. Plus it represents "opportunity for JOY" because sometimes we just have to "knock" on doors to open them and to find the JOY within.
2.) White Key Unlock Print: another print that someone offered for personal use on-line (sorry did not keep the lin ;) and I love how it has the words...happiness, joy, love, peace, kindness, laughter, friendship, success, patience, faith, greatness, creativity, generosity, serenity, truth, trust and hope...as the background. It just speaks to me...enough said!
3.) Photo of the roses: that my hubby got for me on Valentines Day...was unexpected and pure JOY.
4.) Boob Scarves: again found this photo on-line and just about fell on the floor laughing when I first opened up the page. I don't know what is funnier...the Japanese woman in the middle beaming from ear to ear to the, hesitant look of her friend/relative on her left! I could just see me and my sisters or my Mother and her sisters posing for this shot...just timeless!
5.) Photo of Hubby: taste testing our new recipe for Hot n'Sour Soup and his reaction of "Perfect"...staying in on weekends and creating and enjoying each other is my idea of heaven on earth.
6.) A Month of Letters: Challenge that I participated in and was happy to have completed. Even though I didn't mail out a letter on every single (available) day of the month...I did mail out more than 24 items through-out the month. I made an effort to send letters to relatives who do not have access to the internet and love to hear from us more than the annual Holiday newsletter entails.
7.) Doodles Unleased: photo of one of the prints that I completed for this on-line course. Loved the vibrant colors that I choose and I really enjoyed how this course pushed me to try new things when it comes to painting...and to truly let go and to TRUST the process.
8.) Snowman Kits: for Valentine's Day that I put together for my son in Pittsburgh, PA and my sister in Boscawen, NH. Since the Groundhog saw his shadow...it meant 6 more weeks of winter...ugh! So I thought these would surely put a smile on their faces and get them through those last dreaded weeks ;}
9.) Doodles Unleased: second photo of the prints that I completed for this on-line course. The greatest JOY was getting color photocopies of my original prints so that I could incorporate my artwork in all of my albums and in note cards that I made for my friends and family for the Month of Letter Challenge...really was a full circle feeling.
Here is a close-up shot of the Boob Scarves and the Month of Letters photo inserts. I had actually printed out copies of the Boob Scarves photo and made some magnets to include in the letters that I sent to a few of my aunts and my sisters so that they could enjoy it as well.
On the right-hand sideI have a full photo simply inserted into an 8-1/2"x11" page protector. I choose a photo that would be conducive to adding the photo journaling as suggested by Ali for this month's assignment.
I choose this photo of me sitting on my hammock because it demonstrates how I actually stopped myself and went outside and enjoyed the very unusually warm and beautiful weather that we were having this month. Many times...I don't allow myself to stop and "smell the roses" (as the saying goes)...because I'm always telling myself that I have "too much to do". I'm sure that you can all relate when it comes to the "self-chatter" that goes on in our brains ;}
Well that's it for my One Little Word Album for February. Hope you all are enjoying your process of being present as much as I am.
Fondly, Roberta
