I'M LOVIN' IT this Friday as I give you all a sneak peek at the Snowman Kits that I put together this week in the studio for Valentine's Day for my family Oh yeah...shhhh...remember it's a surprise!
Since the Groundhog saw his shadow this month...I thought..."what better time for giving Snowman Kits than for Valentine's Day to help make all that white stuff much more enjoyable?"
So ever since Christmas I've been scooping out the stores for the kits...and low and behold...a PEACE sign theme started to emerge {cool beans baby ;} Besides...what better way to make amends for celebrating the white stuff while we are here in sunny North Carolina than peace signs?
Yep...the first things that I found for the "belly buttons" were these peace sign brads in the scrapbooking section in Michael's...it was a light-bulb moment for me let me tell ya!
Then I found these large googly eyes and bright pom poms to use for the nose and mouth...after all my Snowman Kits are so hip man...no traditional snoman stuff would work here. Now befickle was very way more ambitious than I because she actually sewed her felt hats AND her felt flowers for her kits! They were so cute and I had visions of doing the same. But time marches on and when I saw these cute bowler hats in the kids craft section in Michael's...I was so over making them from scratch. At less than $3.00 bucks a piece after coupons...they were the most expensive item in the kit...but so worth the time and stress saved ;}
With spring on the way...Michael's was putting out their "potting accessories" into their dollar bins and I couldn't resist adding these bright "gloves" into my kits...the colors and the prices demanded it Then I found the ribbon with the peace signs on it for the hat bands and the gorgeous felt flower pins (at less then $1.49 each) and knew that my Snowman Kits would be just as snazzy as befickle's ;}
On another day while shopping with my sister in Hobby Lobby, I spotted the polar fleece with the peace signs on it. She really thought I was nuts when I practically bowled her over to get to it! I just laughed at her because by then...I was taking it as a sign from above...with all the peace signs coming together. {Cue in the Beatles's music right about now {come together...right now...over me ;}
To make the scarves, I simple cut the half-a-yard of polar fleece into four equal lengths and sewed two pieces together to make two very long scarves to fit around the fat Snowman necks ;} To finish them up...I simply cut the fringe into the ends and was done in no time flat! I also sewed together the ribbon for the hat bands and covered the seam with the clip-on felt flowers.
Once I had my kits all assembled, I printed up the gift cards explaining Snowman Kits "just add snow" and wrapped all the bits and pieces up inside the hats with white tissue and popped them into my favorite USPS medium, flat rate shipping boxes. I just love these boxes because I can stuff them so full of goodies and ship them right from the house...doesn't get any better than that ;}
Party Mix is something that I'm always making up for my family whenever I ship out boxes...that would be because it is not as "perishable" as other baked goods AND...it doesn't matter if it gets crushed in shipping...always tastes great ;}
The pencil boxes I also found on sale at Micheal's for fifty cents each. So I picked some up and knew that I'd find a way to use them...someday! WELL...guess what...besides the obvious pencil box...they make great toothbrush and razor containers for traveling. That would be because they are plastic and are easy to clean but also because they have little pin holes in them for the all important "aeration"...hence no mold or mildew issues in your suitcases. So with that in mind...I added some new toothbrushes along with some dark chocolate kisses for my loved ones. Cause you can not NOT give chocolate for Valentine's Day and then they need to take care of their teeth...see that's how my crazy guilty mother mind works...lol
Yep...run to MIchael's now and get you some...they were also in the kid's kraft section ;}
So tell me...how does your mind work? Are you as crazy for your loved ones as I am?
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Fondly, Roberta
Too freaking cute!

SO NEAT!!! I love getting packages like this (and sending them, because then, of course, you get to do all the fun 'putting together')! The snowman idea is fabulous!

Oh how cute!! What a sweet idea for Valentine's Day. I wish we had enough snow to make a snowman. lol Unusual lack of snow this year. I saw you commented on a post you are taking the Flora class... I hope you give us some peeks into that. I didn't have time to take it, but would have loved to! :)
