Wow...trying to get my head around the fact that the first week in August has just flown by! This week I've been very busy {like when am I not?}...hence why time just zips right on by! But I'm Lovin' It...in the studio with the two different projects I'm currently creating.
Last week while I was consciously taking photos and documenting daily for my Week in the Life album, I did make the time to edit/crop and place an order for some of the pictures for my Summer Travel Journal from our vacation in June/July. So this week when the packet arrived in the mail...I couldn't wait to tear it open! I am always pleasantly surprised...even when I know what the pictures are of since we are in the digital age...I still get a thrill from physically holding onto and viewing real photographs ;) Especially when I see the photo of DH in flip-flops...it's a first for him...look close and you can see the tell-tale sock lines on his ankles...lol
Also this week I've been working on selecting, editing and printing some of the photos (I took well over 1,000 ;) for my Week in the Life album. It's been a real struggle as I try to figure out the process of assembling this album, especially since I haven't scrapbooked a traditional album in years. Then combine all the digital scrapbooking tools out there and I'm really overwhelmed. Ali did a wonderful demonstration the other day on her blog for using her Week in the Life digital templates and even though I do not have photoshop (or have any intentions of getting into it ;) I found her video tutorial very inspiring and helpful!
What I discovered after watching the entire video was that I could use publisher...a program which I am very familiar with and that I could adapt it's blank, pre-designed quick documents for my title and daily cover pages (or any other full photo paged).
The publisher documents can all be changed/updated with your choices for coordinated color pallets (like paint chips ;) or with different fonts, or with your personal photos, and with auto-shapes for tags/titles/labels, etc. Like Ali, I just wanted to keep this all very simple so that I will not get so overwhelmed that I will not finish the project. Remember...the most important thing is NOT the design...it's the photos and the stories.
These large title and daily cover pages will be printed out as 8 1/2"x11" photos and will simply slide into the full-page protectors in my album...easy...peasy! The title page has a simple description of what this album and week have meant to me and then the daily pages will have a summary description of what that particular day encompassed. These pages are still in the "tweaking" stages and I will not be printing them until I have my album ready for the final assembly with all the photos, memorabilia, ephemera (if any ;) and journaling.
If anyone would like the details as to which publication I choose in publisher, please feel free to leave your inquiry in the comments and I'll be sure to respond as soon as possible. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Fondly, Roberta

I'm like you...I love holding the actual photograph in my hand. This is such a great idea to design your template and then print it as a photo to easily slide in. I am so behind on scrapbooking photos. I might just try this!

How fun to rip into that package of photos!! I am just like that... love looking through and holding photographs! :) It is going to be amazing to have this scrapbook when you are done. Being able to look back through an entire year by weeks! A treasure for sure!! :)

You look really good in that first photo, I haven't seen you with your hair up like that in awhile. I can't wait to see the entire Week in the Life that you put together.

What an awesome post of digging into your photos and pages. Yes! I am a serious word + pics kind of girl :o)
Yes, the important parts are the photos and words -- and this looks so delightfully fun! I get really serious about my books in the spring and fall for some reason, I can't wait to get out my pics and glue (I am old school).
Hugs!
