Woo Hoo! I received my new LeCreuset Pan this week and I don't have a regular recipe to share with you all today for Foodie Friday...but I did want to show you all how having a great pan makes all your food preparations Quick & Easy!
One of my DH favorite things is just a plain ole hamburger...but I like to have a little more garnish on my burgers and prefer them without a bun ;) So first things first...saute a few mushrooms...yum...
Just heat up your skillet with a little bit of olive oil and some butter...cause mushrooms need butter! This takes less than five minutes to get them all browned on the edges...a good saute! Then add a splash wine {red or white the mushrooms will drink anything...like me ;} to de-glaze the pan and give your mushrooms some added flavor then you can add your hamburger patties right into the same pan.
Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce on top of your patties and a pat of butter each...if you use lean ground beef like I do...this keeps them moist and flavorful. Grill them on one side for about two minutes until you get a nice sear on the bottom then you can flip them over.
If you happen to have a handy, dandy Grill Press like moi...then you can set this on top of your burgers to heat them all the way through and keep the tops warm. If not, then just put a lid on top of your pan and cook your burgers for about three more minutes until they are slightly pink the the center. Whatever you do...DO NOT SQUISH YOUR BURGERS...big mistake ;( A lot of folks do this, especially when they cook outdoors on a grill and all's you end up doing is squishing out all the flavor in the meat and drying your burgers out so they are hard as rocks ;]
After your burgers are done then set them on a plate and let them rest a few minutes so that all the juices soak back up into the burger...otherwise if you cut into them to..."see if they are done yet"...all your juices will just run right out onto your plate or your bun.
Thanks so much Michael Lee!
So now we are ready to eat and I served ours with some leftover macaroni and cheese and brown gravy...guess it's my version of salisbury steak...only so much more flavorful than those frozen meals out there and MUCH better for you. PLUS the fact that it took less than 20 minutes from start to finish to throw this very satisfying meal together...it really is so much easier when you have a good pan ;)
Just goes to show you that you have to participate to be able to win and Michael Lee has another great giveaway going on right now for a Kitchen Aide mixer so be sure to tell her who sent ya when you hop on over and pay her a visit ;) Fondly, Roberta
