Today I was so taken while reading Kristen's blog post about a new project that she is coordinating for this great cause...
Little Dresses for Africa: which is a non-profit, Christian based organization which provides relief to the children of Africa. Simple dresses are made out of pillow cases and distributed through the orphanages in Central Africa to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy!
Knowing the history of the girls in Africa and the difficult road that lay ahead, a small group of ladies returning from a short mission trip to Malawi began to sew simple little dresses out of pillowcases to be distributed to young girls through the orphanages in Africa.
It continues to grow as little groups spring up all over America. To date they have received over 50,000 little dresses that have been distributed in 13 countries in Africa!
With Little Dresses for Africa there are many ways to provide help...from starting or hosting your own sewing group, sizing and packing little dresses, or donating financially toward shipping costs. Little Dresses for Africa will deliver the dresses to the grateful little girls in Africa.
"We're not just sending dresses, we are sending HOPE!"

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SEW TO HELP OUT...Keep Reading!
Kristen of, We are THAT Family, has pledged to complete 100 Little Dresses during the next two months. First, for the month of JUNE, she will be collecting the supplies and distributing them to the 15 seamstresses that have volunteered to do all the sewing for July. Please check out Kristen's blog post for all the details and list of supplies that are needed and for shipping information to the project coordinator's address.
I am so excited that I can help out in many ways...heck I might even trying sewing one of my own Little Dresses...won't you join in the fun! I'm going to check out my local stores for their clearance bins and see if I can find some cute kid's pillowcase designs as well as asking my family and friends if they have any extras that they'd be willing to part with. I'll follow up with my results and perhaps a photo of my own creation...wish me luck...lol
What an awesome simple way to help! I wish I had extra pillow cases...maybe my wallet will find some extra ones at the store this weekend :)
