Little Dresses for Africa!
So sorry for the poor lighting...it is overcast here today and so very dark and gray...worst conditions for trying to capture these Little Dresses ;)
But I'm sure that Devon's little girlsin the Casa Emanuel Orphanage in Guinea Bissau, Africa are going to be so excited when they receive their receive their new little dresses and...
their new white t-shirts to go underneath them ;) Remember the other day, when I had to run out to Walley World to get some more red seam binding? WELL while I was in the store I decided to pick up a few more things...
I KNOW...I've come some splainin' to do ;P
Well...recently my husband and I watched the documentary, Angel's in the Dust...
"In a nation ravaged by AIDS and the aftereffects of apartheid, middle-class Marion Cloete leaves her Johannesburg suburb behind to establish a village and school for South Africa's orphans; Louise Hogarth's documentary chronicles the inspiring story. With help from her family and many others, Cloete's mission is realized in Botshabelo, a traditional African community that houses, nurtures and gives hope to more than 500 children." Per Netflix
Needless to say we were very moved by Marion Cloete and her husband and even more so by the children in their village. ONE thing that really struck me was that the children who were HIV positive needed to be protected from colds and infections. Which meant that they wore hats, socks and many layers of clothing to keep from getting chilled.
Aides is an epidemic all over Africa, so when I was in the store and saw these packages of little boys, white t-shirts (all the little girl t-shirts were camisole style...not appropriate here ;) and the little girls anklet socks...I just couldn't resist! ALL three packages were under $23.00 WITH TAX...now how cool is that...you all know that I was doing the happy dance all over Wally World! One of these days someone is gonna capture me with their cell phone camera and put me on a Wally World Cam Slideshow...with the caption: ditsy dancing lady ...and quite frankly my dear...I don't give a damn ;)
On-line at the site for the organization, Little Dresses for Africa, I also saw several photos of girls who were actually wearing their dresses over their shirts...

They came out beautiful! I love the yellow and blue one the best. I'll have to put that movie on our Netflix, it looks like it will be a good inspiring story.
