Samaritan's Feet South Africa is a charitable organization based just outside Cape Town, and has grown out of a bigger organization called Samaritan’s Feet, based in the USA.
Samaritan’s Feet is a non-profit organization dedicated to changing lives through Shoes of Hope distributions around the world. 300 million people wake up each morning without a pair of shoes to protect their feet from injury and disease.
Samaritan’s Feet South Africa is working to make a difference in the lives of kids and adults in need of shoes throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
At their Shoes of Hope Distributions, they partner with local organizations, churches and schools to achieve their goals. Well this past August I posted about how I joined the shoe drive that Kristen sponsored for her Doing It For Others project that ran through the end of September.

Ahhh...I can just imagine this sweet little girl in her new shoes ;)
Well thanks to everyone who participated, Kristen's DIFO organization collected over 215 pairsof new shoes...woo hoo! You can check out what all of those shoes look like BOXED UP IN HER LIVING-ROOM here in her post...oh my! There is now way I could do that here at the Love Shack...I'd have to rent an off-site storage facility or something ;}
What a great feeling...even though I was only able to donate 4 pairs of little girls sneakers...it still feels good to be able to give to this cause. If you missed out on this shoe drive don't fret, you can always HOST YOUR OWN SHOE DRIVE or help out by making a financial gift donation (tax deductible) for a pair of shoes here. If you do decide to host your own sure drive, be sure to come back and leave a comment and let me know, because I'd be more than happy to help your organization reach it's goal!
How many pairs of shoes do you own? OMG...count them up and let's all post our totals here in the comments section! I know that I have too many...how about you?
Cause inquiring minds want to know...
Fondly, Roberta

hi,I'm too ashamed to admit how many I own....but I make a difference in my own small way by giving my kids out grown shoes to the local people around here who are not so fortunate.

I'm too ashamed to admit how many I own....but I make a difference in my own small way by giving my kids out grown shoes to the local people around here who are not so fortunate. They often beg right at my gate! The horrible thing about South Africa is the poverty right on our door step...we see it right in our own town with shanty towns a stones throw away from most middle class suburbs. I hate Thursdays as we get people who come and dig in our bins we put out for collection. If I have anything to chuck out, I normally put them in a packet and place it on top of the rubbish bin so that they don't need to dig through it and in that way, I know my things are going to someone who will most definitely use it. It's very sad. I think a lot of people in other countries..like the UK for instance are protected from this kind of thing, but for us in South Africa, it's a harsh reality we see every day face-to-face.
Well done for making a difference!
