For those of you who are not familiar with this challenge, last September I participated in one that Rhonna Farrer, a multi-media artist for House of 3 Designs , hosted to inspire us as individuals to personally pick an area in our own lives that we want to improve and/or change. Why the 21 days you ask...well normally it takes 21 days to change or add something in our daily habits/routines.
So now I decided to start another 21-Day Challenge because a few fellow bloggers are doing their own personal challenges starting this week and using their blogs to hold themselves "accountable". Which is a wonderful idea, because I know that because I blogged about it last year...I COMPLETED my challenge...even if it was a few days late ;) Which was because we were away from home for some of the days on the weekends and I could not get my journaling done...but I did not let that stop me from completing the journal that I started...as you can see here, or link up to the category cloud on my sidebar.
So anyone and everyone with a blog (or no blog...you can use your facebook wall :) is encouraged to join. My only suggestion is that you "blog" about your challenge on a daily basis so that you do feel obligated to reach your goal. If you are participating, then please leave a comment and let me know that you would like me to include your blog link and/or button on my sidebar for this challenge ;)
The first person that I saw blogging about taking a 21-Day Challenge was my niece, Cortney on her blog, Living & Loving in California last week. She has chosen the tough task of quitting smoking! I have every confidence in her because she is doing as much as she possible can to set herself up for success! First, she is giving herself a replacement activity, exercise...she has even joined a gym...you go girl. THEN she has removed all tobacco products from her home and invested in the PATCH to aid her in her withdrawal and cravings. AND finally, she has OUTED herself by publicly on her blog and committing to her 21-day challenge. PLEASE hop on over and give your support and encourangement ;)
The second person that I saw blogging about taking a 21-Day Challenge was a fellow participant from last year's challenge, Jess of Pen n'Paper Flowers Studio Design. Jess is a very talented digital design, party planning and randomly creative gal who has designed her own blog button for her 543 Challenge:
Jess has made the commitment to incorporate five fruits and five vegetables into her daily routine for the next three weeks. Something that I think most of us could aspire to ;) Jess is wondering: (by the way...do you think the carrot cupcake counts as a vegetable? *wink*). Be sure to hopon over and let her know how you'd vote on this very tempting matter...lol
So...you ask...what "habit" do I want to make or break? For me, this year...again...I want to get back into the daily habit of working on my art journals. Earlier in the year I signed up for the Art House Coop's 2011 Sketchbook Project.
This year they gave you an entire year to work on your projects and you even have the opportunity to pick out your own subject! AND guess what...I've had my mole skin journal here for months now and have not touched it...SO...I'm outing myself and hold myself accountable to get this project done in 21-Days. I chose the subject INSIDE/OUTSIDE because I wanted to sketch and journal about our move here to the Love Shack.
While on vacation in Florida last month, I had visions of working on my sketchbook project and even took supplies along for the ride. But it just was not meant to be so today I gathered everything together so that I can start immediately.
Last week I also joined Paulette Insall's facebook community, The Creative Source, because she is also encouraging and supporting her community to nourish their creative souls and I wanted to give myself all the tools that I could to be successful.
Hope that all of my friends, family and followers will offer their support and continue to follow along as I complete my challenge this year!
