Today's quote provided by Rhonna is:
"Flaming enthusiasm... is the quality that most frequently makes for success." --Dale Carnegie
I think that I took the "flaming" quite literally...you'll soon see :}
My inspiration for today was taken from Lissa Coffey who sends out daily quotes/emails and this week's theme was "vision". So next I went looking for some "visual" inspiration and I found these wonderful "eyes" in a magazine.
My aren't those eyes just gorgeous...and my color inspiration came from Papaya Art and their monogram gift tags...just love the orange and turquoise.
Next...comes the flaming part...well I wanted a "star burst" or "rays of sunshine" on my page....I know how do you get from flame to ray...it's the SUN...the hot flaming rays...get it...good!
So I do not have a great stencil...like the lovely Mary Ann Moss...and I was too lazy to cut one...so I had the "brilliant" idea of cutting up my own rays...pasting them down on my page...painting over the rays...and then removing them...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN QUICKER TO MAKE A STENCIL!
Above are the two finished "rays" on the pages...my fingers hurt from all that rubbing...lol I applied gesso to the pages before adhering the "rays" with water based glue...so I THOUGHT it would be a fairly simple procedure...NOT! I used a chalk ink pad in turquoise and blending it with a white pad.
For the eyes...I photocopied my original magazine image and rubbed charcoal pencil onto the back of the photocopies. Then I traced the eyes onto my journal pages...kinda freaky here...I know!
I used a combination of markers and water-color pencils to finish the eyes...trying to add the depth and color to the irises. I had to walk away and come back because...I was too close and felt like I was being hypnotized.
Next I cut out a "V" from orange card-stock and embellished it with white and turquoise chalk inks for the dots and black ink for the edges. I wanted this in the middle of my pages so that it looked like a "mask"...sorta Marti Gra...oh yeah...it ALSO helps to STOP the CROSSING of MY EYES...
Here's a picture of the two pages...which gives a much better perspective. On the left side...I finally found a use for those "glitter" stickers from "memories"...I know that's another thing you all have and haven't used either...lol Next I rubber stamped my main messages across the top and bottom and wrote in the two most inspiring quotes that I received from Lissa Coffey this week. Finally, I made a "transfer" image on the right hand side of a great comic regarding "improving" your vision...real cute and so appropriate for my journal page. Here's a close-up...
And finally, a close-up of the left side...I know you normally read left to right...but this is all about changing your vision...ENJOY!
After four days of rain and sinus pressure head aches where it hurt even when I was laying down...I can tell you that I really appreciate having my vision back!
