Memorial Day is for honoring and remembering our Military Men and our Fallen Heroes and I get depressed this time of year because it makes me think of my father and the fact that he is not longer living...he was a Veteran and passed four years ago from lung cancer which could have been caused by his two tours of service in the Vietnam War and his exposure to "agent orange".
Love and miss you Dad and wish you could be here to see your grandson getting married real soon!
This "Memorial Day" holiday also makes me think of other "memories" and looking at my "Memory Jar" this morning made me want to "get away".
Not what you would usually think of when it comes to a “Memory Jar”…but this tall vase sits in my Guest Bath and collects all the toiletries from our travels. Since we don’t use that bath very often, I guess I appreciate it when I go in there. As I sit …(sorry if this is too much information for some of you all…lol)…and catch a glimpse of the jar on the floor next to our deep tub…I ponder it. I see each bottle of shampoo, body lotion or soap box and it instantly brings back memories from the trips and hotel stays we have had. Fond memories that make me want to hit the road soon! Places we’ve been to and had wonderful time at like The Venetian in Las Vegas; Pawley’s Plantation in Pawley’s Island, SC; Middleton Inn on Middleton Plantation, SC; Forsyth Mansion, Savannah, GA, Tropic Shores in Daytona Beach; and the Lodge Alley Inn and the Mills House in the historic district of Charleston, SC to name a few. With all the weddings and moving this year we don’t have the time or funds to travel so I’ll just have to “escape” to my bath and my “Memory Jar”.
Hope everyone is having a fabulous friday and that you have a safe Memorial Day weekend.

I enjoyed your post about the Memory jar :) Sorry I have not been by in a long while! I have been meaning to get back to you and respond to your e-mail you sent when I was in FL.
Have a wonderful 3 day weekend...I hope you get to paper craft!
