Wow...hard to believe that it is the middle of March already! Of course the fact that we spent the first ten days on vacation in Charleston, SC really made the time fly by. Why is it that when you go on vacation the time really seems to zoom by...so fast that you can't even remember what you did! That's why I love taking photos and working on my Project Life album so much this year. It has encouraged me to take a ton of photos and to print them. I was already in the habit of taking photos for my blog. But let's be honest...who really wants to scroll through pages of blog posts to find your favorite photos? Don't get me wrong...I appreciate how blogging has helped me keep track of our memories with all of the journaling I've completed. However...my family would rather read less and look more...they really like looking at all the pretty pictures with quick captions and less...blah...blah...blah! As they tell me ;}
Before we left on vacation I had set up a new table in my living room (formerly the library ;) that is now dedicated to my scrapbooking my Project Life album this year.

This year I have been taking a bunch of painting classes and it basically requires that I have my painting supplies out on my studio desk full time. Which meant that I was constantly picking up my supplies and rearranging my desk to make room for my Project Life album and always being nervous that I was going to get paint on my album or photos...not a good thang! So on any given day...you'll find me scooting my office chair back and forth from my painting desk to my scrapbooking desk ;}

This week in the studio I was finishing up my monthly assignment for February's Canvas Create which was to included a heart and loads of texture for your multi-media canvas. The products that I choose were white, pink, and yellow acrylic paints along with some turquoise ink and copper metallic paint for accents.

This week in the studioI kept my head down and got all caught up on my Project Life Album...woo hoo! I may be a few days late for Project Life Tuesday...but my motto has always been..."better late than never" and "better done than perfect!
First up is a photo of the two-page spread for {Week 6}:

Wow another crazy week in the studio...and I've got canvases blooming all over the place to prove it here at the Love Shack to share with you for sneak peek friday. Currently I am enrolled in TWO art courses: first there is Flora's Bloom True: the e-course and second is Donna's Canvas Create monthly video series. I had the bright idea that...while I was working on one project and....ahem...patiently waiting for it to dry...then I could just pull out the next project and move right along ;} I am driven by the limited space that I have here and that while I have my paints out, then it only behooves me to work on multiple projects. Lord knows that I hate to even think about trying to pull out and work on my photo albums while I'm trying to paint...not a good idea at all!

Wow what a week it has been this week in the studio! It started off slow because my lower back went out on Sunday evening after I simply reached inside the refrigerator for some juice to make our Spinach Smoothies. In the past...I've had problems with my back going out...but this time it was like an electric shock went up my back. Thank goodness I keep Doan's pills on hand ;} So I pretty much had to take it easy around here and that really bums me out when I have so much that I want to work on! My lower back was starting to feel better and I was happy that I was able to at least get one week done in my Project Life album. But by Thursday I had a stiff neck so I kept taking the occasional Doan's to alleviate the mild pain in my neck. So this morning I was feeling really good and was excited to go out and get the groceries at Trader Joe's so that I could come back and play in my studio.
The weather around here today has been crazy! This morning we didn't need an alarm clock because the harsh rain and wind woke us up around 7:00am. Then we had a quick break in the weather and just as I was about to head out the door...this is what I saw...

Joy is Rising in the studio this week and I'm so Lovin' It that I get to share my latest project, Canvas Create, with you all. Talk about a perfect way to end a very productive week!
First I had to clean up my desk and put away all of my scrapbooking materials so that I could set up my painting supplies...I've learned from past spills to just get up off of my butt and put the stuff away ;}

I guess you could say that it is one of the downfalls of having a small studio and living space...but it sure does keep me on my toes. The benefit of it is that you always know where your stuff is because you have to put everything away after using it...and in my book that is a good thang ;}

Thank goodness it's Friday the 13th!
I could hardly wait to give you a Sneak Peek of what I've been working on in my studio this week. It's my brand new turquoise album that I got for my One Little Word album...talk about JOY ;}

At first I wasn't even sure if I was going to purchase an album for this project? But then I decided that I really wanted to enjoy the entire process...the journey...so I wanted an album to match my enthusiasm. So when I just happened to be in Archiver's earlier this week...with a coupon no less (he, he, he) and I saw this bright turquoise We R Memories binder...and it being the last one of its kind on the shelf...I took it as a clear sign! Wouldn't you?

Wow what a whirlwind these past few weeks (months) been! Between the holidays and all the traveling we have done to celebrate Christmas with our family in Charlotte and then on to Charleston, SC to ring in the New Years and to honor our 16th Wedding Anniversary...I am wiped out! There is so much that I want to share with you that I am going to have to break it all down into a couple of blog posts so that I don't wear you all out as well ;}
This year, thanks to participating in Ali Edwards, December Daily project, I really did find the JOY in the holidays. It made me appreciate the simple things and to see them differently...to slow down and become aware of what was going on all around me. In the beginning, I thought it might bring on more stress...and who needs that! BUT actually I found myself more relaxed because I was enjoying all the music and displays and even, going out and about, for my holiday shopping. Instead of being all baggy eyed about things I have no control over like..."not decorating a tree of my own" or "not having a big enough house to decorate and/or to host holiday get-togethers in"...it forced me to look at things in different ways and to be appreciative of what we do have ;}
Gift giving has also changed for us over the years...with the combined issues of smaller spaces and budgets...we just don't go crazy buying stuff we don't need or can't afford anymore. So I really like to put alot of creative effort into how I wrap presents now...especially those gift cards that everyone enjoys ;} It really was so much fun finding ways to make the holidays special and festive for my family and friends. So today for Sneak Peek Friday I want to share all the Snowmen inspiration that was happening in the studio here at the Love Shack...I had a blast with these guys ;}

Wow...what a week this has been! I don't know about you but I have been right out straight with the holidays and my December Daily 2011 Album. It's a good thing though because I'm really pleased with how it is turning out...but more importantly...I'm really inspired with the holidays this year!
So today I am taking the opportunity to link up with Denyse, of My Crazy Beautiful Life, for her 18 Days till Christmas Party and with Jennifer, of studioJRU, for her Sneak Peek Friday in the studio party and share with you all, the album pages that I have totally (journaling and all ;} completed so far.
First up I'm going to show you the album covers which as I mentioned previously, that I was covering in black chalk board paint. Then I added some scrapbook papers and glitter type for the titles and I love how simple and striking it has come out. Now I have roughly, sketched in the rest of the title with a white chalk-board marker and this is not the final placement...by any means...but that's the beauty of chalk-board...you can simply erase it all if you are not happy with it ;}
