Thank goodness it's Friday the 13th!
I could hardly wait to give you a Sneak Peek of what I've been working on in my studio this week. It's my brand new turquoise album that I got for my One Little Word album...talk about JOY ;}
At first I wasn't even sure if I was going to purchase an album for this project? But then I decided that I really wanted to enjoy the entire process...the journey...so I wanted an album to match my enthusiasm. So when I just happened to be in Archiver's earlier this week...with a coupon no less (he, he, he) and I saw this bright turquoise We R Memories binder...and it being the last one of its kind on the shelf...I took it as a clear sign! Wouldn't you?
Sorry for the glare in the photos...it's hard to take pictures of photos when they are in page projectors...I'll stand it up and try to reduce the glare ;}
Following the class prompts that Ali has given us for this class...btw...it's not too late if' you'd like to join in...I've included a self-portrait and placed it into a 4x6 flip-out pocket...really like these pockets! In the 9-pocket page protector, I've included reduced copies of the B&W photos of the architectural elements which represent the alphabets for JOY. Along with some journaling cards that Ali also provided for us to use in the class downloads. Knowledge of photoshop is not required for this class because Ali includes instructions for manipulating the documents in word...or you can also use Publisher like moi...or simply print them our and hand-write if you prefer it ;}
The word JOY keeps showing up in my life...as it did TWICE this week...first when I was out shopping and found this lovely box of stationery. I was in TJ Maxx looking for a new canister to hold my protein powder on my kitchen counter...a real need since I'm making spinach shakes twice a day now. Anywhooo...I couldn't help but double-back when my eye caught this bright pink heart...and then when I saw the words...joy within...I didn't care what was on the inside or what the price was...just had to have it! Now it sits on my desk as a wonderful, daily reminder of my One Little Word...
Then it showed up again when I was cruising around blog land and hearing all the buzz and excitement over Donna Downey's latest on-line class this year. I have to admit, I was intrigued...to say the least... when I watched Donna in her intro-video. Especially when she used the words...JOY RISING...after that it didn't take much of a PUSH to convince me to sign up ;}
So now I have FOUR on-going projects to keep me busy in the studio this year so I'm taking the time to set up my supplies and to get organized right now. Whenever I sign up for a class, I always set up a 3-ring, pocket portfolio folder with a label and page protectors to hold all my class instructions, downloads and inspiration that I gather for the project. These portfolios work well for me because I can place them neatly in my desk file drawers and then slip them into my messenger/tote bags when I travel. I really love it when I find sturdy plastic ones, with pretty designs ;} I also use these Thick Stuftainers...clear plastic boxes...to hold my supplies and scraps in while I'm working on my projects. I assign one per project, so that I don't have to keep digging into my papers and stickers each and every time I want to work on a certain project. I find that it also helps me keep things coordinated and to use up all those bits that would be left-over because they are in fact...handy ;}
Who would have ever guess that One Little Word could bring some much Joy?
Hope you all find as much joy in your studios and that you have a wonderful weekend.
Fondly, Roberta
Linking up this week with Layla's Word of the Year party:

Great post Roberta. I just love your album! JOY was my word last year. I never did do a book as I had planned, but the word served me well. Looking forward to seeing what you do with monthly canvas project. xo

Great idea for a book for your OLW. I saw Junelle is using a tiny Moleskin for hers. I am going to join you both with scrapbook for my word, too! Thanks!

For someone who said they were going to blog less and create more...You sure have been blogging alot lately...LOL!! I wish I had your time and energy...Oh yeah!!! My word is "JOY" as well...I came across that word 3 times on New Year's Day (As soon as I walked in Church is was on our leaflets, Came home and another one in an e-mail, opened a magazine and there was an article about "JOY...Bringing the hearts of women together)This had signs..signs..written all over the place and I knew that I was to find "Joy" in everything I do and bring that word with me throughout the year!! We have too many of the same things that pass by us at the same time...scary ;)

What a great project! Your album is looking beautiful from the start. I love how you are using various sizes inside. I think that is so neat and interesting. I can just imagine how JOY is going to find you all year! How wonderful! Looking forward to seeing more throughout the year! :)
