Project dates:
- October 31, 2011: Sign up by
- January 31, 2012: Postmark your book by
- April, 2012: Tour starts
Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project. To participate and have ArtHouse send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, simply start by choosing a theme here.
This year I' choosing the theme...Fill Me With Stories...
Last year my theme was Inside/Outside and I filled my sketchbook with the story and the details about our downsizing and moving into our new life here at the Love Shack. This year I want to document the rest of the stories of our lives before I forget all the details and the special moments. I want my children to have a place to go to when they want to read the significant stories of my life, such as:
- How I met my husband and fell in love with him.
- About our first date and that it was on a Friday the 13th.
- The birth story of my first son on July 13th, also a Friday!
- The birth story of my second son on April 13th...such a significant number for our family.
- My father's last days.
- The jobs that I have held and how they have made me very old and wise :}
- About the foreign places that I have lived, Africa, Taiwan, Panama and Italy.
- About the states that I have lived in and my love of the South.
- About my parents and where they came from.
The list goes on and I know that I will not have any trouble filling my sketchbook with some photos and their stories from the past. In a sense it will be autobiographic (and somewhat of a scrapbook) but it will be less about the photos and embellishmentss and more about all those profound moments.
I'M LOVIN' IT in the studio this week that fellow artist, Junelle of Yes and Amen blogspot (oh my...I just LOVE her artwork and can't wait to see her sketchbook ;) encouraged me to join in with her for this year's Sketchbook Project...because...

I did the sketchbook project - perhaps the first year they were doing it? It was when they randomly assigned the topic, and I got "Life in a Yellow Submarine" - I already checked it out for this year, but decided against it because I have so many other projects! Please post your pages as you go! I want to read your stories!
Blessings...

I'm going to participate this year, I jut can't decide on a topic. I'm leaning towards "Fill me with Stories" like you but I think I might fill it with the story that Grampy Bunker recorded. I have almost half of it transcribed on my blog already so it would be interesting to finish it and add photo's and other things. I always wanted to finish it, but never got the chance. Yup, I think that's what I'm going o do.

That sounds like such a fun project to participate in! I love the topic you chose. It is going to be amazing for your children to be able to look back at this and see all those special stories! A true treasure.

If you are doing this for your children, then do you scan each page and keep a digital record of it for them before you send it in? I love that idea and would like to try this, but fear I won't follow through!
